How much of what we say is actually being heard? So often in change efforts, we pull together everyone into a town hall meeting and give the 30 minute blah-blah-blah communication. But here are some quick communication facts:
- We only retain 30% of what is said.
- We only remember 50% of the above – only 15% retention.
- Which means 85% of our minds have the opportunity to wander while we are supposed to be listening. Think about this next time you’re presenting in your town hall meeting – people all around the room planning their next vacation, wondering what they’ll have for lunch, etc.
