5 Ways to Build Habits

It’s tough to build better habits and here are a few great tips from 99u:

1. Think big and act small – make “micro quotas” and “macro goals”.  Set big goals but most importantly define what little steps you’ll take every day – and DO THEM.

2. Create behavior chains.  Instead of “I will be a better leader,” you could aim for, “When I get to work, I’ll do one tough thing first and then go say good morning to three key people.”

3. Eliminate excessive options.   Barack Obama wears nothing but blue and gray suits. According to the president, “I’m trying to pare down decisions. I don’t want to make too many decisions about what I’m eating or wearing. Because I have too many other decisions to make.”
