Carl Honore, author of The Slow Fix, starts with the premise that there might be something to the idea of slowing down instead of rushing through everything.  Maybe it’s better healthcare instead of the 10 min doctor visit.  Maybe it’s actually enjoying your food instead of inhaling a powerbar on the go.  His latest book is about applying this thinking to organizations.  Beware the quick fix – change takes time.  His advice anytime we need to take on a complex problem:

  • admit mistakes
  • seek out root cause
  • sweat the small stuff
  • seek ideas from everywhere
  • work together and share the credit
  • consult and recruit those closest to the problem
